Head of Sports Partnerships, APAC

Joyee Biswas, a former ESPN South East Asia boss, joined Facebook as it’s Asia Pacific’s sports partnership head. Biswas, in his new role, will oversee Facebook’s partnerships with APAC-based leagues, teams, athletes and sports media and will be based out of Singapore. Prior to this, Biswas held senior roles at Eleven Sports Network and Singtel.

More than 20 years’ experience working in sports media with experience leading marketing leading multi-platform sports properties. In 2015 co-founded Goal Studios, Perform’s football digital agency that represents global clients such as UEFA, Nissan, Toyota, Rakuten and Hyundai.

Martyn relocated to Tokyo in 2017 to join the DAZN Japan leadership and assumed overall responsibility for the business in August 2018.

Matt joined the Premier League in 2018 as the League’s first Head of Business Affairs, Asia-Pacific. Matt manages the Premier League’s regional office in Singapore and oversees enforcement efforts in the region. Prior to joining the Premier League Matt was the Managing Director of the New Zealand Screen Association for four years. From 2004-2014 Matt was the Regional Legal Counsel and Assistant Policy Officer at the MPA, Asia Pacific.

Before moving to Kayo Sports in July 2018, Julian enjoyed a great period of success with Australian telecommunication company amaysim. Joining amaysim in January 2013, Julian was appointed chief executive in July 2014. At the company he oversaw a rapid rise, growing it from launch in November 2010 to become the leading challenger brand in the Australian mobile sector, capturing nearly five per cent of the consumer market. At amaysim Julian created Australia’s largest mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), with more than 1.1 million subscribers, winning an independently voted MVNO of the year award in 2017 and 2018. Lastly, as chief executive Julian led amaysim to the Roy Morgan telco of the year prize in three of the last four years.

Varun Narang is the EVP and Head of Product, Design, and Engineering at Hotstar. He is passionate about inventing the future of TV on behalf of millions of Hotstar users around the world. Under his leadership, Hotstar has grown to become the largest OTT platform in India and continues to cross ~100Mn users each month, on the back of building an experience transcending video. Varun has championed the development of immersive experiences like Gaming & Social and the ability to manage world record breaking scale, making Hotstar one of the foremost tech companies of the country. Prior to joining Hotstar, Varun led product teams at Hulu in Los Angles, and Amazon in Seattle. He earned an MBA and bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Applied Math from the University of Rochester in New York

Since joining beIN, Mike has expanded the beIN SPORTS brand in Asia and doubled the number of beIN SPORTS feeds to ensure wide coverage of its live events and bring fans closer to their much-loved sports and teams.  Mike is also responsible for the rollout of beIN’s first multi-device player in Asia, beIN SPORTS Connect.

Fernando is a passionate person around TV evolution. Being a Telecommunications Engineer, joined Telefonica R&D Labs in 1995. As the Manager for the innovation in the Video and Smart Home, in 2008 he created the first OTT VoD product that was launched in Spain, Argentina and Brazil. In 2009, he joined the Global Video Unit becoming the global responsible of Product definition and Strategy for OTT Video. Until 2017, he has been covering the entire value chain as Head of Marketing for Latam region (for IPTV, DTH, CATV and OTT services), Video Business Intelligence, Business Development (partnerships with OTT players, content partners…) and finally Head of TV Products for Latam. In that role, he applied designed the next generation TV UX, aggregating different content and Video services. In May 2017 he has joined Huawei as Director for Video Business in Europe working for strategic projects and consumer division.

Ged is the Head of Broadcast and Content for New Zealand Rugby where he leads the content and digital teams, including the negotiation and sale of the broadcast distribution rights.

He was an Executive Producer on the recent Amazon Prime series All of Nothing: New Zealand All Blacks, telling the story of the All Blacks rugby team to a global audience.

Prior to his current role at NZ Rugby, Ged has held leadership positions with Viacom in the UK and Mediaworks NZ.

Ged lives in Auckland with his wife and two children.

Joe Carr

Chief Strategy Officer & Head of International

World Surf League (WSL) announced the appointment of Joseph Carr as the Chief Strategy Officer and Head of International for the organisation in 2017. In partnership with the senior management team, he will be responsible for overseeing the League’s strategy, corporate development, and the execution of international operations, sales, events, and athlete development.

Carr joins the WSL from UFC where he served as a Senior Vice President and Head of International and Content where he managed the organization’s global strategy, operations and media business. In his new role at the WSL, Carr will lead the strategy and execution of the League’s international business and spearhead further integration with the Kelly Slater Wave Co.
